Title: The Love Series I
Year: 2023
Medium: Acrylics and Acrylic Pens on Canvas Board.
Dimensions: 60 cm (H) x 40 cm (W) x 1 cm (D)
The first piece in the poignant 'Love Series,' this abstract work is a raw and visceral exploration of the overwhelming emotional states that can accompany profound love and loss.
A jarring yellow background sets a high-energy, anxious tone, upon which a chaotic storm of marks and colours is unleashed. Frenetic scribbles from acrylic pens, deep red gashes, and turbulent swirls of blue and grey represent a visual cacophony: the storm of competing thoughts and intense feelings that can feel terrifying in their complexity.
The deeply layered composition, with no clear focal point, masterfully conveys the disorienting and all-consuming nature of being overwhelmed.
By placing this turbulent expression within a series about love, the artist bravely confronts the duality of human connection: its capacity for both beautiful harmony and terrifying chaos.

A vibrant and chaotic abstract painting on a canvas board. The background is a bright, jarring yellow, covered with multiple layers of frenetic scribbles, gestural brushstrokes, and abstract shapes in red, blue, grey, black, and brown. A highly energetic and chaotic abstract work. The background is a jarring, bright yellow, almost completely obscured by layers of frenetic marks. Thick, gestural strokes of red, brown, and grey are overlaid with dense scribbles from acrylic pens in black, blue, and purple. The composition is deliberately non-focal, creating a visual representation of overwhelming, layered energy.
